Create Synchronicity is a backup/synchronization tool that can help you protect your files, and keep your data up-to-date. You can use it for pretty much everything from copying your documents, pictures, music and videos to your USB Key or backup drive, to scheduling server backups with regex filtering and DST compensation.
This is a very small free software package that does a good job of synchronising your local drive with a network drive or external hard disk for backup purposes. It’s very easy to schedule backups; there are many other really good options that making keeping your data safe very straightforward.

As an enthusastic but quite limited beginner photographer with a very geeky background I often find myself distracted by the technical bits and pieces as much as the art. And while I struggle to avoid becoming too wrapped up in the technology I have to recognise that, at the moment at least, I’m a lot better at technology than I am at art.
This site has a software download that allows you to do time lapse photography using your existing camera. In my case a D80, connected to a PC via a USB cable. The software controls the camera enabling you to set your camera and capture images directly to the hard disk.
