SimpleDiagrams, Git and jQuery Mobile
-
The SimpleDiagrams Free Version has enough features to create your diagrams quickly and export your work to PNG. If you like what you see, you can update to the Full Version and you’ll then be able too save your work, publish your diagrams to sites like Basecamp, and work with multiple fonts.

jQuery Mobile application development
Framework jQuery Mobile appeared not so long time ago and its quality was greatly improved. A number of subsystems have been rewritten (both for clarity and for performance) and cross-browser compatibility has seen a marked increase in quality. Previously I’ve worked with jQTouch and Sencha Touch. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I’d like to focus on the development on jQuery Mobile. Now I’m going to describe the process of creation of the simple application with several pages, Twitter integration, Google Maps and a set of basic elements.

Tutorials for Paint.Net
As you all know (or at least those that are into free but brilliant software) Paint.Net is one of those wonderful pieces of software that not only works, but is somehow better than much of the commercial stuff that’s out there. Anyway for those of you using this great software I have found a mixture of free tutorials for the software.

One of the features that sets this software apart from so many others is the great collection of addins available. These addins add a wonderful array of functionality to the software to enable it to easily compete with Photoshop and other commercial software. The great thing about Paint.Net is that (a) it’s free – donationware and (b) it’s robust and (c) it’s easy to use.
A quick scan on YouTube.com for tutorials shows 100′s of really good tutorials and videos to help use the software and create some great effects. I easily give this software 5/5 and recommend it to everyone that wants a very comprehensive free graphics package. Oh, and bye the way it works great with Windows 7 and has very comprehensive support for masks and layers.
One last comment… be sure to check out the very popular Paint.Net forum for expert advice and help.

YourFonts With YourFonts you can make a TrueType font from your own handwriting for free. The process is simple, quick and basically idiot-proof. Print out a template from the site, write in your letters, scan, upload and — voila — there you have it. If you’re a real fonthead, you might want more detail and control over the fonts you create. I remember even years ago seeing an ad in MacWorld for a “make your own handwriting font.” The template that software had was a lot more sophisticated, since it asked for examples of different letter combination as well as individual letters. The YourFonts template basically replicates the characters on a standard keyboard, with an optional extension to characters with accents/umlauts etc
